Veteran journalist Kwesi E. Baako has challenged the Minority in Parliament over what he described as its selective approach to national issues, urging the caucus to pay greater attention to critical challenges affecting Ghanaians.
Speaking on his current affairs programme on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha, Baako questioned why the Minority appears to prioritize political controversies while remaining relatively silent on pressing national concerns such as Ghana’s data governance, food security, and other key socio-economic issues.
“Do you ever hear the Minority raise issues about pressing matters like Ghana’s data and food security?” Baako asked during the editorial segment of the programme, calling for a broader and more balanced focus on issues that directly impact the lives of citizens.
He argued that while holding the government accountable is an essential responsibility of the opposition, it is equally important for Parliament to actively champion discussions on long-term national development, digital transformation, agriculture, and economic resilience.
Baako’s comments have sparked discussion among viewers and political observers, with many weighing in on the role of the opposition in shaping policy debates beyond partisan politics.
The remarks add to the ongoing national conversation about the priorities of Ghana’s political leaders and the need for greater attention to issues that influence the country’s future.
