Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress and former president John Dramani Mahama has refuted allegations linking him to the recent attack on the Asanteman convoy at Takyiman.
Speaking during a visit to Manhyia Palace, John Mahama decried the recent trend of politicking where unfounded allegations and coined news are used to score unmerited political points. He said a circulating video suggesting his involvement is doctored and intended to tarnish his reputation and that of the NDC. He also accused the seat of government for being responsible for the dissemination of the falsehood.
“Nana, there is something called fake news, where people use computers to manipulate people’s voices, I have seen one this morning with my picture, making baseless claims. The seat of government knows about it. They have a department in charge of disseminating fake news”, he said.

He also presented his campaign to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Advising the presidential aspirant, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II challenged John Mahama to outline his plans for rescuing Ghana from the  current economic challenges. He said he believes Mr. Mahama has already sold his message to Ghanaians and all that is left is for Ghanaians to endorse his message by voting him into power again.
He called for a peaceful and fair election.
“If God doesn’t crown you and you crown yourself, it doesn’t go well:, Otumfuo admonished.
He charged him to provide concrete solutions to address the country’s pressing issues in his next administration if voted in as president again.
Mahama is expected to outline strategies for revitalizing key sectors, addressing inflation, currency depreciation, and debt management, as well as investing in infrastructure development and promoting economic inclusivity should he become the next President of Ghana.
The Asantehene’s request is a significant one, as it underscores the importance of having a clear plan for economic recovery.
