Deep throated sources have confirmed to ghnewsnow that a group of Ghanaians identifying themselves as the pressure group, Ghanaians Against Bad Governance (GABG) are planning a repeat of the protest they staged at the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC. This time the protest is aimed at the President when he arrives in the US capital to attend the African Leaders’ Summit.
About 50 African heads of state and government are converging on Washington DC for an unprecedented meeting that analysts say has the potential of redefining the continent’s image, from one tagged with conflict and disease to one of a region ripe with economic opportunity.
The event however also presents the window for nationals of various African countries who feel disillusioned by their governments to raise their voice for the world to hear and the GABG seems to realize this.
A few weeks ago, the group held a protest at the country’s embassy in Washington DC to raise concerns on what they termed bad governance and a declining economy, among a litany of other issues. The group’s convener, Kwaku Boateng hinted that if they had not received a response from government by the 3rd of August, they would take the message directly to President John Mahama as he arrives for the summit. This has been confirmed. The group has announced the said protest and already issued flyers inviting concerned Ghanaians to join.
