‘We Didn’t Need Special Prosecutor’s Office; Strengthen Attorney General Instead’ – Solomon Anane

The Director of Communications for the United Party (UP), Solomon Anane, has questioned the need for the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), arguing that resources could instead have been used to strengthen the Attorney General’s Office.

Speaking on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha, Mr. Anane said if the justification for creating the OSP was concerns about the performance of the Attorney General’s Office, the government should have invested in improving the existing institution.

“If the issue was that the Attorney General was not doing what was expected, then we needed the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Ghana should have used the money to strengthen the office of the Attorney General,” he said.
