‘Who Made You An African Leader?’ – Kwesi Baako Drags Cheddar For Apologizing To Europeans Over Transatlantic Slavery

Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar)

Kwesi E. Baako, publisher for Ghnewsnow and host of Weekend Editorial, an editorial show on that platform, has criticized The New Force’s presidential candidate, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, for apologizing to Europeans over the transatlantic slave trade.

This comes, during an exclusive interview on Radio Kulcha with Daniel Affum Darkwah, a spokesperson for Nana Kwame Bediako and the New Force.

Cheddar in October gave a speech at the UK Parliament, where he apologized on behalf of Africans, referring to what he called “their mistakes,” which he claims have led to economic crises.

He also urged the UK Parliament to refrain from using foreign influence on African nations.

In a post on X, Cheddar further stated, “I am the first African leader to apologize on behalf of African leaders for their mistakes, which have caused economic crises, currency devaluation , stagnant development etc.

“Apart from apologizing, I am also the first to present a petition pm English soil in the UK Parliament, urging the world to refrain from using foreign influences to interfere in our political systems and instead, to become our international commercial partners.”

However, Kwesi Baako in a reaction quizzed, “For what? On behalf of who? Who sent him?”

The editorial host said Cheddar does not qualify to carry the term “African Leader” since he is not the leader of any country or recognized geographic entity.

“Who made him a leader to start with?… you are (only) the leader of your party” Kwesi Baako said.

He said musicians like Shatta Wale has a following too, but that does not qualify him to represent Africans on such a high platform to of all things, apologize for a situation that saw millions of Africans killed, brutalized and enslaved.

If we have failed as a people, as he claims, he should render that apology to our ancestors in Ghana, not in the parliament of the same people that enslaved us”, he said.

Daniel Affum Darkwa – Spokesperson, TNF

Daniel Affum Darkwa said Cheddar is campaigning on 12 pillars and 3 concepts and is the best choice for Ghana. He also conceded that but for Cheddar surfacing in the race, his vote would have gone for NDC’s John Mahama.

“Mahama built on Prof Atta Mills legacy and Mahama lost the election in 2016 because of  propaganda, lies and all that. I could see and I sense that Mahama was taking the country through the right direction”, the New Force spokesman said.
