Kwesi E Baako has hit back at former NDC communications official Koku Anyidoho following Anyidoho’s recent comments on the growing culture of what he described as the “politics of insults” in Ghanaian politics.
Baako, in his response, is reported to have challenged Anyidoho’s criticism, pointing to what he described as Anyidoho’s longstanding opposition to President John Mahama.
“Your hatred for President Mahama is well documented,” Baako said on the iKulcha YouTube channel in reaction to Anyidoho’s remarks.
Calls from various political and civic actors for politicians and commentators to focus more on issues and policy rather than personal attacks.
The controversy also revives a longstanding debate in Ghanaian political circles over inflammatory language. Historical commentary and media reports have repeatedly documented concerns about the use of insults in political discussions, including criticism directed at both major political parties.
Baako has always spoken against the politics of insults and, in 2020, praised both the NDC and NPP for avoiding such exchanges during a period of heightened political activity.
