Media personality Kwesi E. Baako has called for Ghana’s justice system, particularly its prisons, to prioritize rehabilitation over punishment.
Speaking on his show on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha, Baako argued that the primary purpose of imprisonment should be to reform offenders and prepare them to become responsible members of society, rather than simply subjecting them to punishment.
According to him, a justice system centered on rehabilitation can help reduce repeat offending and give inmates a better chance of rebuilding their lives after serving their sentences. He stressed the need for correctional facilities to provide education, vocational training, and other programmes that support personal transformation.
