Businessman and politician Akwasi Addai Odike has criticised individuals he believes are benefiting directly from what he described as corruption and systemic failures in Ghana’s political system.
According to Odike, some people who benefit from the existing system are opposed to efforts aimed at introducing reforms and addressing the challenges facing the country.
“They are direct beneficiaries of the rot; that’s why they don’t want [change],” Odike said, in comments on Ghana’s political situation.
He suggested that vested interests continue to influence political discourse and make it difficult to implement meaningful reforms.
Odike’s comments come amid ongoing public discussions about corruption, accountability and the need for reforms to improve governance and economic management in Ghana.
He maintained that addressing the country’s challenges would require confronting entrenched interests and ensuring that national resources are managed in the interest of all citizens.
