The Ghana Police Service has removed unauthorized sirens and strobe lights from 188 vehicles during a special enforcement exercise in Kumasi aimed at improving road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
The operation targeted vehicles illegally fitted with emergency warning devices, which are reserved for authorized security and emergency service vehicles. Police said the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to curb the misuse of such equipment and prevent motorists from unlawfully claiming priority on the roads.
The Police Service urged drivers to comply with road traffic laws and warned that enforcement operations will continue against individuals who install or use unauthorized sirens and strobe lights.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining order on the roads and ensuring that emergency warning devices are used only by legally authorized vehicles.
