
The Government of Ghana has officially declared Friday, May 1, 2026, as a public holiday in observance of Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued on April 27, 2026, and signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government confirmed that the day will be observed nationwide to honor the contributions of workers across the country.
The holiday, widely known as Workers’ Day, is marked annually to recognize the efforts and achievements of workers while promoting fair labor practices and improved working conditions.
Citizens have been encouraged to observe the day as a statutory public holiday, with various labor groups and organizations expected to commemorate the occasion through events and activities.
