Africa Has Not Benefited Enough From Its Natural Wealth – Dr. Kwadwo Oppong Wadie Backs Burkina Faso’s Push to Control Natural Resources

Political analyst Dr. Kwadwo Oppong Wadie has said African countries have long failed to fully benefit from their natural resources, arguing that this has contributed to Burkina Faso’s decision to cut ties with France and pursue greater control over its resource wealth.

Speaking on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha with host Kwesi E. Baako, Dr. Oppong Wadie stated that many African nations continue to see their resources generate wealth that largely benefits foreign interests rather than their own citizens.

He said Burkina Faso’s recent policy direction reflects a determination to reclaim control over its natural resources and ensure that the country’s wealth is used to drive national development and improve the living conditions of its people.

According to Dr. Oppong Wadie, African leaders should prioritize policies that promote local ownership, value addition, and equitable distribution of the continent’s abundant natural resources.
