Court documents have detailed the charges brought against Bono Regional NPP Chairman Kwame Baffoe following his recent arrest and detention. According to the charge sheet, he faces two counts: offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and the publication of false news under provisions of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29).
The statement of offence indicates that the first charge stems from comments allegedly made in April 2026 in Accra, where he is accused of using insulting language against a judge. The remarks were quoted as: “You are not a judge but rather a politician and you have covered your hair with a sack and claim you are a judge,” which prosecutors say could disrupt public peace.
The second charge relates to a video circulated on social media during the same period. Prosecutors claim the video contained similar statements that were likely to incite fear and panic, alleging that he either knew or should have known the information being shared was false
