Josephine Mensah of the Josephine Mensah Health Foundation has called on Ghanaian parents living abroad to devote more time and attention to their children, stressing that parental involvement is crucial to their upbringing and development.
Speaking on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha during an interview with Kwesi E Baako, she urged parents not to allow the demands of work and other responsibilities abroad to prevent them from building strong relationships with their children.
Her comments followed the shooting incident involving Javits Frimpong, which has sparked conversations about parental responsibility, child upbringing and the challenges facing young people.
Josephine Mensah emphasised that parents must make conscious efforts to understand what their children are going through, monitor their activities, listen to their concerns and provide the necessary guidance and emotional support.
She further stressed that providing children with financial support and material necessities alone is not enough, as they also need love, attention, discipline and proper parental guidance.
She encouraged Ghanaian parents abroad to take their children’s emotional and social development seriously, noting that spending quality time with them can help identify challenges early and provide the support they need.
