The General Secretary of the United Party (UP), Mr. Boabeng Asamoah, has called on Ghanaians to break free from the country’s long-standing political duopoly dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview with Kwesi E. Baako on Ikulcha TV, Mr. Boabeng Asamoah emphasized that Ghana’s democracy will only mature when citizens are bold enough to explore alternative political options.
Mr. Asamoah argued that the UP offers a platform for innovation, accountability, and people-centered governance, free from the entrenched partisan divisions that have characterized Ghanaian politics. He added that a vibrant multi-party democracy would strengthen national development by encouraging competition in ideas and policy rather than loyalty to political colours.
He further appealed to the electorate to assess political parties based on competence and commitment to nation-building rather than historic affiliations.
