Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur Okyeame Kwame has acknowledged former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the introduction of the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
Speaking on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha with host Kwesi E Baako, Okyeame Kwame said he does not necessarily agree with all the policies implemented by the former president, but believes the Free SHS programme deserves recognition.
“I may not agree with Akufo-Addo on some of his policies, but big him up for his Free SHS policies,” he said.
The Free SHS programme was introduced by the Akufo-Addo administration in 2017 and was designed to remove tuition-related barriers to senior high school education for eligible students. The policy has remained a significant subject of public discussion, particularly regarding access, funding and its implementation.
Okyeame Kwame’s remarks add his voice to the ongoing national conversation about the impact of Free SHS and the policies of the former Akufo-Addo administration.
The musician has over the years used his public platform to comment on social and national issues, often advocating for initiatives he believes can contribute to Ghana’s development.
