“Love or Hate Daddy Lumba, He’s a Legend You Can’t Discard” – Kwesi E. Baako Declares on Radio Kulcha

Veteran journalist and pan-African commentator, Kwesi E. Baako, has described the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba as an “undeniable legend” whose impact on Ghana’s music and cultural identity cannot be erased, regardless of public opinion.

Speaking live on Radio Kulcha’s morning program, Baako passionately addressed the national debate surrounding Daddy Lumba’s legacy following his death on July 26, 2025.

“Love or hate Daddy Lumba, he’s a legend and you can’t discard him”  He said.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away at age 60 after decades of shaping the soundscape of Ghanaian highlife. His lyrical boldness, melodic depth, and signature voice earned him countless fans,  and a fair share of critics. Yet, few can argue against his influence.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo‑Addo has openly credited Daddy Lumba’s music, particularly campaign songs like “Nana Is A Winner, with boosting his popularity during election seasons.
