Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster Kwesi E. Baako has slammed a viral video showing a landlord brutally assaulting his wife, calling the act a deeply troubling manifestation of “sense of entitlement grounded in cultural nonsense.”
Speaking on his Ikulcha Radio/TV show, Baako argued that the violent outburst should prompt not only social outrage but also legal consequences , “He must be jailed,” he declared.
The video, which has sparked widespread public condemnation, shows the man physically attacking his wife in their compound, an incident that eyewitnesses say has been ongoing.
Authorities subsequently arrested the man, identified, along with two of his siblings, and confirmed that the wife had fled before police arrived.
Baako used the footage as a launchpad to critique a broader social attitude, suggesting that the perpetrator’s justification may lie in outdated cultural assumptions about male dominance in domestic spaces. According to him, this is not a private family matter: it is a societal failure, one that is “deeply embedded in toxic traditions.”
