According to media sources, Raila Odinga, the former prime minister of Kenya, has passed away.
In the southern Indian city of Kochi, Raila Odinga was receiving medical attention when he suffered a heart attack on Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital and declared dead.
Odinga, the head of the opposition, lost all five of his presidential bids; two of those ballots resulted in tumultuous outbursts of retaliation and bloodshed ten years apart.
He spearheaded the demonstrations following the contentious 2007 election, which sparked the nation’s worst political bloodshed since gaining its independence.
In the fights, hundreds of thousands of people lost their houses and about 1,300 people died.
