Fear Of Relegation Grips Ghana’s Hearts Of Oak

Hearts of Oak must win all remaining matches to enhance hopes of staying in the top-flight league.

Survival hopes of Hearts of Oak appear to be waning after being held to a goalless drawn game on Sunday by Medeama SC in the Ghana Premier League.

The sharing of spoils with the Western Region-based side put the Phobians in 15th position just above relegation-bound BA United.

With two more matches to go, Hearts’ survival rests largely on results of other matches especially those involving Bechem United (14th), Heart of Lions (13th) and Great Olympics (12th).

One of these three clubs will definitely be relegated.

Nevertheless, clubs from the 3rd position (Asante Kotoko) downwards could, technically, be out if they fail to pick some points from their remaining matches.

Hearts’ next two encounters will be against former champions Berekum Chelsea and WAFA.

The League takes a two-week break with the next round of matches scheduled for Spetember 6.
