Daddy Lumba’s Funeral Controversies: I’m Disappointed in the Family Head (Abusuapanin), He Should Not Have Taken Sides – Kwesi E. Baako

Media personality Kwesi E. Baako has expressed deep disappointment in the family leadership of legendary Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, following recent controversies surrounding arrangements for the artist’s funeral.

Speaking on Ikulcha TV/Radio, Kwesi E. Baako criticized the family head (Abusuapanin) for allegedly taking sides in the ongoing misunderstandings within the family over funeral plans and representation. According to him, the Abusuapanin’s role should have been to unite and mediate, not to deepen divisions.

“I’m very disappointed in the family head. As the Abusuapanin, he should be the symbol of peace and fairness, not someone taking sides in such a sensitive matter,” Kwesi E. Baako stated.

He explained that in Ghanaian tradition, the Abusuapanin serves as a neutral authority who ensures that all family members are treated fairly, especially during crucial events like funerals. Taking sides, he warned, only worsens tensions and brings public embarrassment to the family and the legacy of the late icon.

Kwesi E. Baako further urged the family to resolve their differences peacefully and focus on celebrating Daddy Lumba’s remarkable musical legacy, which has brought pride to Ghana and the world.
