Hon. Fiifi Baako, Chairman of the Tutu Kese Festival Planning Committee and former Municipal Chief Executive of Assin Central, has explained why Assin Fosu has revived the celebration of the Tutu Festival in grand style after nearly 40 years.
Speaking with Kwesi E Baako on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha, Hon. Baako discussed the history and significance of the festival, including the migration story behind the name “Tutu” and the reasons for bringing the cultural celebration back.
He also outlined plans for the December 2026 edition, highlighting the construction of new durbar grounds, activities planned for the festival and a special Diaspora Day aimed at encouraging Ghanaians abroad to return home and reconnect with their roots.
Hon. Baako also addressed sponsorship, offering insights into the financial realities and challenges involved in organising the festival.
The revival of Tutu Kese is expected to provide an opportunity to preserve Assin Fosu’s cultural heritage, strengthen community identity and attract visitors and members of the diaspora to the area.
The December 2026 celebration is being positioned as an important platform for cultural promotion, homecoming and community development, with organisers seeking to make the festival a major annual event.
