Eat Fufu, Save A Child – Ghanaian Men’s Association Organize Fufu Festival In Texas

The Ghanaian Men’s Association of Dallas, USA have held their 3rd annual Fufu Festival to raise funds for needy and vulnerable people back home in Ghana. The event which had the theme: ‘Eat Fufu, Save A Child’ was held in Arlington, Texas drew patronage from fufu connoisseurs and cultural enthusiasts in the Dallas area.

Speaking to Ghnewsnow, the President of the association, Nana Nframa Okogyeaman Katakyie Gyebi Ababio said the event is to serve the dual purpose of showcasing the rich Ghanaian culture through food to the outside world as well as raise funds to support their charity projects back in the motherland.

“We serve about 3 or 4 orphanages in Ghana which we do serve them quarterly, that we provide meals, we provide clothing; basically we help build their structure to give them a good shelter and support their education” he said.

He said individuals the group have friends who are curious about fufu as a delicacy and so 3 years ago they decided to turn their annual fundraiser into an event that also allows both Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians to sample this cherished culinary heritage.

Nana Ababio said the group also organizes events in the Dallas Texas area to support those who may need it.

He admonished everyone to support their efforts by contributing to their fund to help push their charity projects back in Ghana.
