Violence In Ablekuma North: Eight Found Guilty, Each Fined GH¢6,000

All of them entered guilty pleas to the accusations made against them.

Among the victims were Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei, the deputy organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Majeed Mohammed Saana, a businessman; and Hawa Mavis Koomson, a former minister of state and former MP for Awutu Senya East.

The Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) charged the eight with three charges of assault and conspiracy to commit assault, in violation of Sections 23(1) and 84.

After all of the defendants acknowledged their involvement in the violence, the case, which had started on Monday, August 26, was expedited. Their conviction and sentencing today marked the end of the trial.
