Following a fire outbreak that severely damaged the Accra Tourist Information Center on Monday, August 4, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, announced that the National Film Authority would be temporarily moved.
The National Film Authority (NFA), the Tour Operators Association of Ghana, the Ghana Tourism Authority’s Call Center, and the International Affairs Department’s offices have all suffered significant damage as a result of the fire, which started around 12:30 am today.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, August 4, the minister clarified that the action is meant to guarantee the Authority’s seamless operations while officials evaluate the circumstances and decide what to do next.
The Minister mentioned that she has spoken with other impacted renters as well as Rockz Waakye’s owner, artist and businessman Reggie Rockstone.
In order to protect against potential dangers, she also advised business and home owners to get their properties insured and certified as fire safe.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded quickly when a fire destroyed the Accra Tourist Information Center.
Although the precise moment of the event has not yet been verified, a video posted on the Office of the President’s Diaspora Affairs Director Kofi Okyere-Darko’s (KOD) Facebook page showed dense smoke plumes rising from the building and obvious alarm among adjacent employees and guests.
It’s yet unknown how much harm has been done. The Ghana National Fire Service is anticipated to release a comprehensive report shortly.
Among the establishments impacted was Rockz Waakye, owned by musician and businessman Reggie Rockstone.
