Government has denied reports in the public domain that it has agreed to pay 50% of doctors salaries as their professional allowance. Government’s reaction comes on the back of speculations attributed to Accra based Joy Fm which indicated that “government has accepted to pay 50% of basic salary per month as the professional allowance.” The
Effective Friday August 7, the ongoing strike by the over 2,000 members of the Ghana Medical Association, GMA, will worsen as negotiations for better conditions of service has hit a deadlock. The association has in their latest threat given government 24 hours, to address their concerns or they withdraw emergency services across all public hospitals.
Organised Labour has chastised government for not acting in good faith on the grievances of doctors, and health workers in general.
