President John Dramani Mahama has tasked the newly inaugurated Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to focus on providing independent, evidence-based advice in carrying out its responsibilities.
Speaking at the group’s inauguration on Wednesday, February 11, President Mahama highlighted the importance of objective, data-driven policy recommendations as Ghana works toward economic recovery. He urged members to offer clear and analytical guidance to support effective decision-making.
The President further instructed PAGE to recommend policy reforms where necessary and to contribute expert advice to Ghana’s negotiations and engagements with bilateral and multilateral partners, international financial institutions, and investors.
He directed that the group report directly to him, submitting advisory memoranda, policy briefs, and strategic assessments as required. He emphasized that their recommendations must be grounded in the long-term national interest.
“Your counsel is expected to be frank, independent and evidence-based,” President Mahama stated, stressing that prudent economic management relies on honest evaluation and forward-looking strategies.
The establishment of PAGE is aimed at enhancing economic governance by offering high-level advisory support to the Presidency on key fiscal and structural reforms.
