NPP Told To Curb Asante Mampong Tensions As Registration Kicks off

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has kicked off a nationwide membership registration drive, set to run from March 1 to March 31, 2026.

The move aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and prepare for future elections.

However, concerns have been raised about potential chaos in Asante Mampong, where the party faced tensions during the 2020 parliamentary elections.

In an exclusive interview with Ghnewsnow, the Former NPP Communications Director, Kwame Owusu Acheampong (Wy Clef) urged NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi) to intervene.

According to him, Asante Mampong has been identified as an electoral hotspot or flashpoint, which they (the concerned staunch members of the party) don’t want it to continue.

Wy Clef alleges that some party executives in Mampong are already registering members ahead of the official launch, echoing issues that led to past tensions.

He warns that if national and regional leaders don’t address the issue, it will really affect he party in the Mampong Constituency.
