*PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESS BY CONCERNED CITIZENS OF FIASO ON SUNDAY 30TH NOV. 2025*
Greetings to you ladies and gentlemen from the various media houses who have honored this important media briefing by the Concerned Citizens of Fiaso.
We the concerned citizens here this afternoon would like to fall on you the media to convey our deepest concerns to the general public and to who ever matters in this issue regarding the kind of happenings in Fiaso community that has created and is still leaving us with fear and panic among the members of the community.
Following the demise of Fiaso Dikrohemaa, Nana Mariama Owusu, the community woke up to witness the subsequent killing of animals at Fiaso on Monday 24th November 2025 as part of traditional activities towards the main funeral day Tuesday, 25th November 2025 without any announcement to that effect. Everybody within the community lived to witness all these activities without complain. But the most saddest aspect was when gun wielding men who claimed to be national security personnel throng the community killing animals and threatening people with gun shots and unfair comments.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, whereas the final funeral rites of the Dikrohemaa was ongoing on Tuesday 25th November 2025, some national security guards once again invaded the Zongo community in Fiaso far from the funeral grounds and started beating and whipping up one community member mercilessly with no reason. These Rambo style of invasion attracted the neighborhood who could not help the attackee due to the shooting spree by the national security guards. It was an unfair scene and an eye saw situation, ladies and gentlemen of the media.
A friend to the attackee who could not stand the atrocities meted out to his friend boldly confronted the guards and in the process sustained a gun injury in the right palm.
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the press, are we living in a jungle or war front to be witnessing scenes like these?
It may interest you to note that after these incidents, the orchestrators of these acts against the poor community people were too quick to launch a complaint at the regional Police command against the community and the victims involved. Upon a visit to the regional Police office to launch a complaint regarding these happenings, the police failed to give us a listening ear saying the police came in to calm the situation but were resisted by the people.
This unwelcomed posture by the police made us to doubt the police as they seems to take sides on this very matter for reasons best known to the police.
As we speak with you this afternoon, one of the victims who sustained gun injury on his palm is still in police custody with the wounds.
What sort of policing and protection is this?
Fiaso community had lived in peace and harmony over the years but this peace is now being threatened by national security and some macho men with their regular gunshots and attacks.
We the concerned citizens of Fiaso are law abiding people. The national security is a law enforcement body. Therefore let no one hide behind the security agencies to forment trouble in Fiaso.We are poor farmers struggling to sustain our lives, leave us to enjoy our hard earned labour in peace.
