Senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has expressed strong confidence in the leadership qualities and political capabilities of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, predicting a decisive victory for him in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.
Speaking in an interview with seasoned journalist Kwesi E. Baako on Ikulcha Radio and Television, Nana Obiri Boahen described Dr. Bawumia as a well-prepared and visionary leader whose track record in government sets him apart from his competitors. He noted that Dr. Bawumia’s role in Ghana’s digitalization drive, economic policy direction, and governance reforms demonstrates his readiness to lead the country.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, the mood within the NPP grassroots strongly favors Dr. Bawumia, adding that party delegates recognize competence, loyalty, and electoral appeal when making critical decisions.
He stressed that unity within the party would be key after the primaries and expressed optimism that Dr. Bawumia’s victory would position the NPP strongly for the 2028 general elections.
He urged the party supporters to remain calm and focused as the primaries approach, emphasizing that a transparent and peaceful contest would ultimately strengthen the NPP.
