Nana Kwadwo Jantuah, a seasoned journalist, has praised the growing media literacy among Ghanaians, noting that citizens are now more discerning and selective about the media houses they rely on for information. Speaking on Ikulcha Radio/TV, he highlighted a significant shift in the public’s approach to news consumption, driven by increased awareness and exposure to diverse sources of information.
According to him, the era when people accepted anything they heard on radio or watched on television is fading. Today, many Ghanaians are more careful, cross-checking facts and choosing media platforms that have established reputations for accuracy, fairness, and professionalism. This, he said, is a positive development that helps strengthen the country’s democratic environment.
Nana Kwadwo explained that the rise of misinformation and political propaganda has pushed audiences to scrutinize media content more closely. As a result, credible media houses that prioritize truth and journalistic integrity are gaining greater public trust, while those known for sensationalism or bias are gradually losing influence.
He encouraged journalists and media organizations to maintain high standards, as the public can now easily distinguish between credible reporting and misleading narratives. Nana added that an informed and discerning citizenry is essential for national development, accountability, and strong democratic governance.
