The leader of the United Front Party (UFP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, has described President John Mahama’s 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) as generally successful but criticized portions of the speech for containing what he termed “inaccurate figures.”

Speaking during an interview on iKulcha TV and Radio Kulcha with host Kwesi E Baako, Boateng said while the President delivered the address confidently and touched on key national issues, some statistical inconsistencies may have misled him.

“Mahama’s 2026 SONA went well in terms of presentation and structure,” Boateng stated. “However, the speech writers must be blamed for some inaccurate figures which misled the President.”

According to him, accurate data is crucial in a State of the Nation Address, as it shapes public perception and informs policy direction. He stressed that speech writers and technical advisors must ensure all economic and social indicators presented to the President are thoroughly verified.

Boateng added that while such discrepancies should not overshadow the broader message of the address, they highlight the need for stronger fact-checking mechanisms within government communication teams.
