JUST IN: Court Orders NAM1 Trial To Proceed Online Due To Health Issues

An Accra High Court has ordered that the criminal trial of Nana Appiah Mensah, the former CEO of the now-defunct gold dealership Menzgold, proceed through virtual hearings.

The court informed his legal team of the decision today after receiving a medical report from the accused.

According to the doctor’s note, Mr. Mensah has been advised to avoid “maximal physical exertion,” leading to the move toward electronic proceedings.

NAM1 is facing several charges, including defrauding by false pretences, operating a gold trading business without a licence, and money laundering. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts and remains out on bail.

The case is part of a long-standing prosecution linked to the collapse of Menzgold, which allegedly defrauded thousands of customers. Previously, the High Court had directed him to begin presenting his defence as the trial progresses.
