“It’s Early Days Yet for President Mahama to Appoint Everyone” – Kwesi E. Baako of Radio Kulcha Urges Calm Among NDC Faithfuls & Critics

Renowned pan-African broadcaster and political analyst Kwesi E. Baako of Radio Kulcah has called on members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to exercise patience as President John Dramani Mahama continues to form his government, just eight months into his current administration.

Speaking on Radio Kulcha’s flagship political talk show, Baako addressed growing concerns and frustrations among NDC foot soldiers and grassroots supporters over the pace of appointments.

“It’s early days yet for President Mahama to appoint everyone,” Baako emphasized. “It’s only eight months into his government, and he cannot put all his good materials forward now.”

According to Baako, President Mahama is strategically pacing his appointments to balance competence, party loyalty, regional representation, and national interest. He urged NDC members to trust the process and allow the President the space to build a team that will serve the country effectively over the next four years.

Since returning to power in January 2025 after a hard-fought election victory, President Mahama has made a series of key ministerial and regional appointments. However, murmurs of discontent have emerged from some party bases and constituencies over perceived delays and exclusions.

Kwesi E. Baako acknowledged these concerns but cautioned against what he described as “impatience that could hurt party unity.

Analysts suggest that President Mahama is deliberately taking a phased approach, especially with second-tier appointments, including boards, ambassadors, MMDCEs, and state agency heads, to ensure alignment with the NDC’s development agenda and electoral promises.

Kwesi Baako concluded by reminding the NDC faithful that political inclusion is a process, not an event, and encouraged continued loyalty and discipline within the party.
