My ‘Enemies’ And ‘Opponents’ Misrepresented My Letter To The President – Asenso Boakye

Former Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, has clarified recent public discussions surrounding his remarks on the Kumasi–Accra road developments. Speaking on iKulcha TV / Radio Kulcha with host of their weekly Livestream, Kwesi E. Baako, he stated that his earlier comment had been misconstrued.

According to Asenso Boakye, what he intended to communicate was that the government should continue with the existing Kumasi–Accra road project, which is already underway.

He stressed that once this ongoing project is completed, it will deliver the same benefits and improved transport efficiency that the newly announced express road is expected to provide.

He noted that his position was not opposition to the express road initiative, but rather a call for prioritization and completion of current works, ensuring that resources are used effectively and that commuters experience relief as soon as possible.

Asenso Boakye’s clarification aims to realign public understanding and highlight the importance of continuity in national infrastructure development.

He said his opposition is based on the premise that governments are bound by the constitution to continue projects started by preceding governments.

When challenged by the host to respond to the narrative that the government under which he served did not continue projects which were started by the first Mahama-led administration, he said he had no details of that and the question would be best answered by those in charge of those ministries.
