Govt Releases GH¢139m For 99th LEAP disbursement

The 99th cycle of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) cash award payments has been initiated by the government, with nationwide distribution starting on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, the Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, announced the disbursement of GH¢139,329,463.37 for the current payment cycle during a press event in Accra on Friday, December 19, 2025.

The Minister claims that roughly 350,580 households, or roughly 1.5 million Ghanaians nationwide, will benefit from the cash.

In order to improve the lives of extremely poor and vulnerable households, she characterized LEAP as a flagship social protection measure and a major component of the government’s Reset Agenda.

The bi-monthly cash grants, which are dependent on household size, vary from GH¢320 to GH¢530, according to Dr. Lartey. She explained that the prompt distribution of the monies, especially during the holiday season, is meant to assist eligible households in covering necessities like food, medical care, and educational costs.

She added that GH¢1.1 billion, the largest budgetary allotment since the program’s inception, has been given to the LEAP Program by the Ministry of Finance. According to the Minister, the government’s commitment to bolstering social safety services and lowering extreme poverty is demonstrated by the additional spending.
