Dr Bawumia, The NPP Aspiring Flagbearer, Should Clear The Lie Tag On Himself – Kwesi E Baako

Veteran journalist and political commentator, Kwesi E. Baako, has called on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s aspiring flagbearer, to confront and clear the growing perception that he is not truthful in his public pronouncements.

Speaking on his show on Radio Kulcha, Baako stated, “Dr Bawumia must clear the lie tag on himself. It’s not enough to keep making promises, Ghanaians are asking for results, not rhetoric.”

He emphasized that while Dr. Bawumia has played a leading role in championing digital transformation and economic policies, questions continue to surface about his credibility, particularly regarding unfulfilled promises.

The “lie tag” refers to a growing narrative, mostly among critics and opposition voices, that Dr. Bawumia has either exaggerated or failed to deliver on several of his key pledges over the years. Some political opponents have even nicknamed him “Bawuliar”, a label that Baako insists must be addressed head-on if the Vice President hopes to win the trust of voters ahead of the 2024 elections.

Kwesi Baako urged Dr. Bawumia to publicly audit his past promises, explain delays or failures, and provide clear updates on his achievements.

As the NPP prepares for its internal elections and the national polls draw closer, Baako’s comments highlight the increasing pressure on Dr. Bawumia not just to campaign, but to prove that he is a man of his word.
