Adansi Helicopter Crash: Mahama Gives Residents Who Recovered Bodies GHS100k & Secures Them Employment 

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his gratitude to 13 Sikaman-Brofoyedu people who were instrumental in the recovery of eight fatalities from the August 6, 2025, unfortunate military chopper disaster.

 

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), visited the hamlet on behalf of the President to personally thank the rescuers and provide a package of government support.

Eight prominent officials, including Minister of Defense Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, were killed in the helicopter crash that happened in the Dampia Range Forest Reserve in the Adansi Akrofrom District.

At the time of the disaster, the victims were on official duties.

“The President has asked me to represent him and thank the residents who helped us recover the bodies of our eight men,” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said in a speech to the community on Wednesday, August 27. To honor your efforts, we have a plaque for each of you.

In addition, the president is awarding you GHS 100,000 for your contributions to the nation. The president is also providing the chiefs with GHS20,000 for the remaining rites. Please inform your DCEs and party chairmen of any remaining issues so that they can be resolved.

Along with giving GHS 100,000 to the rescuers and GHS 20,000 to the Adansi Traditional Council, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also declared that all 13 participants in the body recovery operations will receive employment offers according on their unique qualifications.

Additionally, the president has pledged to upgrade the region’s infrastructure.

Additionally, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah stated, “President Mahama has promised to fix your road.”

Many people believe that the support package is an important recognition of the community’s courage and sacrifice during the national catastrophe.
