Abraham Kwaku Edusei, an 82-year-old well-known farmer from Kwahu Afram Plains, was named the 2025 Best Farmer and received a lot of recognition for his many years of service to Ghana’s food producing industry.
At this year’s National Farmers’ Day event, the seasoned farmer, whose service to agriculture spans more than 60 years, was recognized for his outstanding production, inventiveness, and commitment to sustainable farming methods.
His honor serves as a reminder of the crucial part senior farmers still play in maintaining Ghana’s agricultural economy.
Mr. Edusei, who is lovingly referred to as “Senior Farmer” in his community, has farmed many acres of various crops, such as vegetables, plantains, cocoa, cassava, and maize. He is an example of integrated farming in the Eastern Region because he also keeps a successful livestock unit.
The 82-year-old thanked the organizers and urged the younger generation to see agriculture as a fulfilling career in a speech given after accepting the prize.
“My life has been farming. I began as a young boy and have put in a lot of effort throughout the years. He stated, “I want the young people to understand that farming is a path to prosperity rather than a punishment.”
Additionally, he urged the President and the administration to assist in resolving the issues that farmers nationwide face.
