I Was Serving The NPP From The US When The Founding Fathers Were Working – Ken Agyapong Replies Nyaho-Tamakloe
In what seems to be a rebuttal to NPP stalwart Nyaho-Tamakloe’s assertion that he has not done anything for the party, Member of Parliament for Assin Central and Presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong says he is as legitimate a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as any of the so-called Founding Fathers. He said he and others were organizing and working for the party abroad while these ‘Founding Fathers’ were putting the party together back home.
“I’ve been with the party for [a] long time” he said. “We started it as Danquah-Busia in 1991 before the party was formed in 1992 when we all joined”, he revealed.

Speaking on his own TV network, Net2 TV, he told the show host that he was opposed to the rule of former President Rawlings and was thus prompted to join the struggle to remove his government while he was still living and working in New York.
He said in 1991 he was part of a group, which formed the Danquah-Busia club in Brooklyn, New York at the home of President Akuo Addo’s father.
This group he said were organizing and contributing to the formation of the NPP at the same time that the foundations of the party was being laid back home by the Founding Fathers.
He said he and others mobilized and protested against former President Rawlings at a time where there was no democracy, leading to the change in political climate.
Zeroing in on Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s assertion, he said he feels it is time to set the record straight for the NPP faithful.
“Today I have [the] opportunity to let Ghanaians know the role I’ve played since age 31-32 till now whenI’m 62… 30 years in the NPP party is not a small thing” he said.

“So if today someone says Kennedy Agyapong is only a loudmouth and has done nothing in the NPP, it makes me laugh” he said.
He also said after he came to join the party in Ghana, he as contributed immensely to the party including funding campaigns and winning and holding on the Assin-Central seat for 6 consecutive terms.
A few days ago, leading member of the party Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe said he does not know Kennedy Agyapong as a main contributor of the party in relation to the other persons running for the flag-bearer position in the party.
