Election 2016: We Shamed Skeptics-COP Kofi Boakye

The Ashanti regional Police Commander COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has commended police personnel in the region for the display of professionalism during and after the December 7 polls devoid of bias towards any of the political parties.

Many were of the view that violence would have characterized events in the region but the conduct of his men in the discharge of their duties he emphasized, ended up shaming such persons,

According to the Ashanti police Chief, politicians who doubted neutrality of the police in executing successful elections were particularly shamed calling for more of such bravado by men and women of the service in future endeavors .

Addressing Juaben traditional authorities at a handing over of district police station by the Paramount Chief of Juaben to the Ghana police service, COP Kofi Boakye disclosed that all electoral laws offenders have since been hauled before the law courts for prosecution.

He stated that  no amount of political tagging and insults by politicians and  civilians  will sway police person in the discharge of  their constitutional duties of  maintaining law and order, as well as protecting lives and properties.

“People were saying that Ghana Police will not be able maintain peace and order during the election but at the end of the day we all saw what happened. We were insulted and tagged as biased but we ended up proving our critics wrong.

The whole Ghana there was no peace like in the Ashanti region. All those who violated the electoral laws have been arrested and have been processed before court. We continue to pledge our commitment in maintaining law and order”, he stated.
