Asokore MCE Vows To Deal With Rampaging NPP Youth In Kumasi

The  Municipal Chief Executive of Asokore Mampong Assembly, Alhaji Nurudeen Amidan, in the Ashanti Region has warned that persons who take the law into their hands in the course of jubilating the victory of the New Patriotic Party will be severely dealt with.

Alhaji Amidan was reacting to actions by some rampaging NPP youth in the Asawase constituency, who locked up offices of the assembly because of a change in government.

There was little activity at the offices of the assembly on Monday 12 December.

Some military and police personnel were deployed to unlock the offices to allow officials of the assembly carry out their duties.

Alhaji Amidan, in an interview with  journalist, called on the NPP leadership to call their rampaging supporters to order.

“The laws of this country will continue to work, we have a constitution in Ghana and then we have a transition system and nobody can take the law into his hands so long as I continue to be CEO. It’s so sad, this is a democratic process; it’s not a coup that has happened in order to behave this way. Why didn’t you go for a coup? You went to election and you won, which is good for democracy, but why are you attacking… I won’t sit down for this to happen.

I believe the leadership of the NPP should talk to their supporters, other than that what is going to happen in this country will not be good…” he stated.
