A Mercedes Benz bus with registration number AS 7597-13 carrying passengers this afternoon caught fire at the Sakasaka Shell filling station in Tamale. No casualties have so far been recorded. According to an eye witness, a generator was started close to the underground tank where fuel is offloaded. He said the generator sent some sparks towards the offload bay which caught fire and spread to the said vehicle.

Citizens were prompt to react as they pushed the burning bus to the main road where the Fire Service responded quickly to extinguish the flames. Passengers quickly run out of the car before it went up in flames.
At Press time, there is huge traffic on the Sakasaka to Kamina barracks, but the immediate danger seems to have been averted.
