Antoa Raid: 8 Arrested

A total of eight suspects have been arrested in connection with a heist at the sanctum of the dreaded Antoa shrine in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects are believed to have played a role in the theft of a god and gold ornaments at the shrine.

Last week, the Police picked up one of the 14 Antoa chiefs who were summoned by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a few weeks ago, over the theft of the ‘puduo’ deity, as well as expensive shrine regalia.

On November 26, 2015 the Asantehene ordered the chiefs to produce Antoahene, Otipuduosuo Nana Kwame Owusu Agyemang, within the shortest possible time for questioning or risk facing his wrath.

Kenyase District Police Commander DSP Emmanuel Adu-Boahene, confirmed the arrest of one of the chiefs to ghnewsnow reporter Isaac Bediako in an interview.

The raid of the shrine’s ‘strong room’ in the Kwabre East District was detected weeks ago.
