Agya Koo Nimo Serenades Patron

Agya Koo Nimo and his protege George Spratz

When Oscar Yao Doe, Group Chairman and President of Eurostar Group of Companies bought a 1960 Oscar Tella Guitar belonging to Agya Koo Nimo during an auction at the Musicians Union of Ghana (Musiga) Grand Ball event on 5th September 2014 at the State Banquet Hall in Accra, he had no idea that 3 weeks after, the legendary musician was going to pay him a visit in his office to say Thank you personally in grand style .

Agya Koo Nimo travelled all the way from Kumasi in the company of his student master guitarist George Spratz and a team from Musiga headed by the President, Bice Osei Kuffour. After saying ‘Thank you’ to Oscar Doe for purchasing his guitar for GHC15,000.00 at the Grand Ball auction in aid of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF), Agya Koo Nimo and his disciple serenaded the guests with sweet authentic live music from their acoustic guitars.

They played tune after tune with accompanying history and all present couldn’t help but join with clapping and dancing as they partied deep into the night. “This is too much …. We do not deserve this, Just a small gesture at the Grand Ball event and I get the Legendary Koo Nimo to be my guest. My God this is too much” Oscar Doe said in his usual humble voice. The Grand Ball Event raised a total of GHC100,000.00 for the Musiga Academy and Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund(AMWEF).

Cheques of Ghc 40,000 and Ghc 60,000 were presented the Musiga Academy and the AMWeF respectively at a ceremony at Alisa hotel on 23th September 2014 where the AMWeF website was out-doored. The executive of Musiga invites everyone to support this charity by texting AMWEF to short code 1962 on all networks within Ghana to contribute GHc1.
