Landon Donovan – Out of final 23 for Brazil

Deep throat sources reaching our sports desk say US soccer star Landon Donovan has been left out of the squad heading out for Brazil this in 20 days time.

The LA Galaxy striker is rumored to have had disagreements with German born Coach Jurgen Klinsmann leading to his exclusion. It can however not be confirmed at this point if this is the reason for his exclusion.

Soccer pundits remain divided on Klinsmann’s bold decision to leave the all-time most capped active player of the US senior team who also doubles as the team’s top scorer at the Mundial. While some applaud Coach Klinsmann’s resoluteness, others suggest that US fans will never forgive him in the event of the team putting up a poor showing come June.

His place is reportedly to be filled by the young and skillful Julian Green who plays for German side Bayern Munich where Klinsmann used to coach. Also conspicuously missing from the team is Ghanaian-born midfielder Freddy Adu who many had thought would make his World Cup outing in Brazil.

The news seems to have lightened the mood of some Ghanaian fans against who Donovan scored in the previous World Cup.

Here is a list of the final 23 heading for Brazil:
